ABOUT ME

As I have progressed in my education, I have continued to gain an understanding of how my life as a Black man and the lives of those in my community have been impacted by various forms of racial discrimination. From interpersonal discrimination by authority figures to systemic racism in the form of barriers to quality grade school education, quality food sources, and safety, these experiences were formative to my trajectory. This background provided me with the direction and motivation to combat systemic, institutional, and interpersonal racism by pursuing a career in clinical psychology.  My academic journey began during my undergraduate studies at American University. At American, I embarked on many experiences to help serve marginalized communities through teaching, mentorship, research, and community service. My experiences further fueled my passion for a career as a clinical psychologist to play my part in combatting health disparities. This passion sets my intention to actively work on improving the lives of racial and ethnic minorities through boosting resilience, mental well-being, and decreasing rates of mental illness.
